The 250th Anniversary of our nation will be celebrated July 4th and although the committee anticipates patriotic statements for the quilts, that is not a required theme. Each quilter is telling their own story through their quilt, so as you design and assemble, tell us who you are through your design, your colors, techniques, and your art. Each quilt will be identified as part of this show with a commemorative printed patch to be sewn to the back of your quilt which will be supplied to you by the Shelby County Historical Society. This will not be a judged show, it is a memorial show in memory of Jane Kemp of Sidney. Attendees will have the opportunity to choose their favorite quilt and vote for the People’s Choice Award.

This festive, family-friendly parade steps off at 11:00 a.m. on Main Street in downtown Sidney and ends just past the Spot Restaurant, bringing patriotic pride and community spirit along every block. Come cheer for floats, marching bands, classic cars, veterans’ groups, civic organizations, and plenty of red, white, and blue! Local businesses, schools, and clubs will show off their creativity and pride in what promises to be one of the most meaningful parades of the year. Whether you’re waving a flag from the sidewalk or joining a group in the lineup, this parade is for everyone. Children, families, and community members of all ages are encouraged to wear their brightest patriotic gear and take part in the celebration. After the parade, head to the Shelby County Fairgrounds for food vendors, family activities, live entertainment, and more 4th of July fun!
