To celebrate the Bicentennial of Shelby County Ohio, the Shelby County Historical Society has prepared a series of interesting presentations tracing the history and significance of the county and its citizens.

Annual Turkey Trot 5k Run/Walk to End Hunger

First Presbyterian Church 13th annual Turkey Trot Run/Walk to End Hunger will take place Thanksgiving morning. Instead of a typical registration fee, participants are asked to donate a non-perishable food items, which will be delivered to the Alpha Community Center Food Bank.
T-shirts will also be available for purchase and all proceeds will go to the local food bank.

Enjoy the sights, tastes & sounds of a Historic Downtown Sidney Christmas, complete with horse & carriage rides. It’s a great time to shop local and finish up those Christmas lists too! See our downtown all dressed up for the holidays and enjoy and wonderful evening parade, complete with Santa & Mrs. Claus! The reason for the season Lighting ceremony begins at 6:30 p.m. with the parade stepping off at 7:30 pm. We ask that all spectators remain on the sidewalk during the parade for everyone’s safety!

Shelby County Historical Society’s Annual Christmas of Yesteryear

Please join us for our annual Christmas of Yesteryear open house. Bring your children for a little fun. Santa will be here (photos available for $5 donation), decorate a gingerbread house, make a clay ornament, see the trains and wood carving demonstrations, and don’t forget the popcorn and chestnuts roasted on an open fire!
This event is free and open to the public!

The Bicentennial Ball will bring to a close the 200thanniversary celebration of Shelby County Ohio and usher in the 200th anniversary celebration of Sidney Ohio. This glamorous evening will feature live music, dancing, heavy hors d’oeuvre, and an abundance of community fellowship. Historical displays will adorn the historic Shelby County Courthouse. Formal attire is suggested.

50th Anniversary of the Sidney High School 30 & 0 Football Team

This game commemorates the most significant local sports achievement of Sidney’s 200 years, 30 straight football wins during the three perfect seasons of 1968/69/70. Team members will be introduced at the game with Tipp City.
This game will be played on either September 3rd or September 4th based on a local television network’s decision to broadcast.
