The Great Ohio Bicycle Adventure kicks off in Sidney for a three day – two night visit. From here the next stops are Wapakoneta and Troy. Participants will arrive in Sidney on June 18th to enjoy a downtown street party being organized by Sidney Alive and Raise the Roof for the Arts. On Sunday morning, participants will venture out on two wheels for the first leg of their week long ride. They will return to Sidney this same day and overnight at the Shelby County Fairgrounds. On Monday morning our bicycle enthusiasts will head out again with Wapak being their next destination. From Wapak participants will ride to Troy and return to Sidney at the end of their week-long adventure on Saturday June 25th.

The Shelby County Historical Society welcomes author and artist Robert (Bob) Kroeger for a palette knife barn painting demonstration accompanied by stories of historic barns he’s painted throughout Ohio. Signed copies of Robert’s book will be available for purchase and the painting he creates will be raffled.

All are invited to join as we dedicate the restored 1879 Zenas King bridge, recently relocated to Tawawa Park. Guest speakers include Ohio History Connection CEO Burt Logan, Ohio Historic Bridge Association President David Simmons, Ohio Department of Transportation Division 7 Deputy Director Randy Chevalley, Old World Research Principal and Shelby County Historical Society Board Member Mary Ann Olding, City of Sidney Director of Parks and Recreation Duane Gaier, District 12 State Senator Matthew Huffman, and Bach Steel’s Derek Pung. Tim Hemmelgarn, who donated the bridge to the City of Sidney, will also briefly speak. Hemmelgarn “inherited” the bridge when he purchased the farm on which it was located. Dan Bennett, retired Auglaize County bridge engineer who volunteered to “superintend” the project, will also speak.
