James E. Ryhal will convey to the audience how he used folk stories and family legends that have been passed from generation to generation to author his latest book Ezra’s Journal. Ryhal tells the fascinating story of his great-great-grandfather Ezra Van Buren’s Civil War journey. The meeting will begin at 7:00 p.m. and is free and open to the public.

This Civil War Living History weekend will feature Union and Confederate reenactment soldiers, battle scenes, military and civilian encampments. Scheduled hour-long major battles will be presented along with Union/Confederate skirmishes sporadically each day. Cannon and rifle fire will add to the realism and drama of these experiences. Also planned for the weekend are a series of living history educational programs that will feature first-person accounts about life during the Civil War era.

Beginning at 4:00 p.m. Friday, September 16th, Lake Loramie State Park is hosting their Annual Fall Harvest Festival. Games and activities for the kids, live music, great food, an antique tractor exhibit, and a large variety of craft vendors.
